Nowhere is Home

Nowhere is Home is a documentary about the triumphant live return after 2 decades of Dexys and their enigmatic leader, Kevin Rowland. The film has its Northern Premiere at the Crucible, followed by a rare Q&A with Kevin and Dexys’ legendary Trombonist, ‘Big’ Jim Paterson.

The film sees recent BAFTA award winner Kieran Evans reunite with his friend Paul Kelly for the first time since they co-directed the critically acclaimed film Finisterre ten years ago. Shot over the final nights of Dexys’ celebrated residency at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London last Spring, Nowhere is Home captures songs from those theatrical shows with a striking visual style and a real sensitivity to the performances onstage. Interspersed throughout the film is an honest, revealing and touching interview with Kevin Rowland and Jim Paterson that details the remarkable story of the band. Nowhere is Home frames the motivation and desire that oversaw the artistic triumph of the bands recent album ‘One Day I’m Going To Soar’ and the live performances that subsequently developed from it.
